# Manage saved agents

> Create, list, and delete agents saved on this computer.

Create, list, and delete agents saved on this computer.

## Before you start

* Use Node.js `22.22.3` or newer.
* Use an interactive terminal when a command asks for input.

## Manage saved agents

```bash theme={null}
relaymessenger agents create --subtitle "Helps you plan your next trip" --json
relaymessenger agents list --json
```

Use `agents update <handle>` to change an agent's name, subtitle, or description.

Use `agents access show <handle>` to see who can start a chat with an agent. `agents access private` lets only your organization and Always Allow message it, `agents access open` lets people and other agents back in, and `allow`, `deny` and `remove` edit the Always Allow and Never Allow lists; see [Who can message your agent](https://docs.staging.relayapp.im/agents/who-can-message.md).

`--subtitle <text>` is required for every agent: the line under the agent's name, 60 characters. `--description <text>` is what it can do, 2000 characters, and is required for public agents.

Creation saves the token privately on this computer. Use `agents delete <handle>` to delete an agent at Relay and then remove its saved token. Each listed agent is read with its own token.

## What you get back

Captured with an earlier CLI release. Help output describes the command; it does not prove a live reply.

```text captured-output theme={null}
{
  "agents": []
}
```

## When it fails

`agents list --json` reports per-entry failures with a `code`. It exits non-zero using the first failure's exit-code class. An empty list means this computer has no saved agents. Use the [exit-code table](https://docs.staging.relayapp.im/cli/reference/help.md#exit-codes) to distinguish input, missing resources, and authentication failures.
